Add your first product
Create a product, put it in a category, and add size variants so it's ready to sell on the POS.
A product is anything you sell. This guide creates Cà Phê Sài Gòn’s signature drink, Cà phê sữa đá, and adds its three sizes so it’s ready to ring up on the POS.
Before you start
- A BANA account with a store and at least one category. If you haven’t made a category yet, see Organize products with categories.
- The product’s selling prices. For the coffee, that’s
29,000(S),35,000(M), and39,000(L).
Create a product
Open the product list
From the sidebar, open Products under Catalog. This is your whole catalog in one place. A brand-new shop starts with an empty list. Select Create in the top bar.
Fill in the basic details
On the Create Product page, fill in the Basic Information:
- Product Name —
Cà phê sữa đá. - Status — leave it as Activated so the product is ready to sell.
- Category — choose
Đồ uống. - Sale Channel — pick a channel so the product shows on the POS.
Leave Tax Rate and Variant Type (Storable) as they are. The POS Live Preview on the right shows how the product will look to your cashier as you type.
Add sizes as variants
Cà phê sữa đá comes in three sizes, so add them as variants instead of creating three separate products. In the Variants section:
- Select Add option and name the option Size.
- Add the values S, M, and L.
- Select Generate Variants. BANA creates one row per size.
- Enter the selling price for each:
29,000for S,35,000for M,39,000for L. - Turn on Allow Oversell on each row. Coffee is made to order, so you don’t track its stock — Allow Oversell lets the POS sell it without an on-hand count, so you can start selling now and skip inventory setup.
Select Save in the top bar.
What you created
Your catalog now has its first product, ready to sell:

Verify in the product list
Open Catalog → Products to see your catalog. Cà phê sữa đá appears with Activated status in the Đồ uống category, and it’s now available in the BANA Sale POS app at sale.prods1.bana.com.vn.
Tip: To apply tax, set up a tax type under Pricing → Tax type and attach it to the product. Time-limited discounts are handled in Commerce → Promotions.

Frequently asked questions
When should I use variants instead of separate products?
Use variants when it's the same item in different options, like one coffee in sizes S, M, and L. Use separate products when they are genuinely different things, like a coffee and a sandwich.
Do I have to add an image?
No, an image is optional. But a photo makes products much faster to spot on the POS, so it's worth adding when you have one.
What is Variant Type?
It tells BANA how the item is tracked. Storable is the default and suits most products. A drink made to order still works as Storable; you simply don't track its stock.
Where do I set the price?
On the variant. A product with sizes has a price per size, so you set 29,000, 35,000, and 39,000 on the S, M, and L rows after generating the variants.
Do I have to set up stock before I can sell?
No. For made-to-order items like coffee, turn on Allow Oversell on the variant and the POS sells it without an on-hand count. Set up stock only for items you actually count, like bottled water.
